Wearing my natural hair has been eye opening! I am quickly realising that I am stingy with applying product and moisture to it. Like somehow less is more and that I am putting in too much!
Well, I went to try a new hair place for people of curls. As the hair dresser started to apply the products, she pulled out a spray bottle. I was in awe. When she sprayed my hair, the water came out like a river…generous and lavish! I felt slightly ashamed of my little stingy old spray bottle which came out like a weak stream, a little “”psstt”…rather stingy on application.
It actually got me thinking about God …the psalmist (23) shares how God annoints his head with oil and his cup runneth over. In other words, his cup overflows. God is lavish in his love, generosity and forgiveness. Me… I think my efforts to love and forgive others are so grand they deserve some sort of award (LOL). When the truth is, those efforts are stingy at best! When we love like God the challenge is to be constantly open, particularly to those who disappoint or hurt us.
Being lavish also applies to how I treat myself…the time and money (within reason) spent on me. Sometimes we are so stingy in self care then wonder why we hardly have anything to pour out to others!
Well here’s hoping you apply love, forgiveness, kindness, time and care lavishly to yourself and others. If you forget then, at least remember this image of the spray bottles and decide which one to apply.
