My sister shared this story with me, and it is too precious not to share with you.
“They packed food supplies into a bus and drove through the neighbourhood delivering supplies to various families in need.
The bus pulled up to a house that was in serious disrepair and a young woman emerged with her kids. She didn’t want the handout because of her pride. She wanted to work to provide for her family, but she finally took the supplies.
As the bus drove away from the house, they heard a shout. It was the young woman running behind them with a box in her hand. She asked them to share the contents of the box with whomever they were delivering to. The contents of the box… some mangoes!”
As a Christian, I’ve heard the story of the widow tossing her mite into the treasury many times. Her mite would seem insignificant, but she gave what she could from her heart.
This young woman who ran behind the bus is a modern-day blessing. She was in dire circumstances, but she gave what she could from her heart. She gave her box of mangoes.
So I ask myself, what am I giving from my storehouse to bless others?
