What’s on your bucket list?

“Bucket list” – a list of items you want to accomplish in your lifetime.

Forbes.com published the top 50 travel bucket list experiences for 2021. It includes admiring art at the Louvre in Paris, enjoying the beautiful cherry blossoms in Japan, and seeing the unique of the Galapagos Islands.

While it didn’t make Forbes list, I was able to tick a major one off my personal bucket list.

Drum roll please!!

Swim off Owen Island, Little Cayman!

Owen Island is a tiny island off another little island aptly called Little Cayman. To get to Little Cayman you have a take a twin otter plane from Grand Cayman which lands on a grass field. The whole experience is surreal because from the time you land you know you are on a tranquil laid-back island. This is where everyone knows each other and they wave a friendly hello when they pass you on the street.

From Little Cayman, you can kayak over or take a short boat trip to Owen Island. We opted for the latter as it was a full family trip. Owen Island is surrounded by beautiful blue water, which is shallow in areas, making it the perfect swimming spot for all ages. There are no facilities on the island except for a makeshift bamboo bench. Pack your sunscreen, hats, water and snacks and be prepared to spend hours of beach fun lounging before heading back to Little Cayman.

You know it was awesome when every single member of the family had a great time and the ages ranged from 1 year to 78 years!
