Approval addiction

Do you feel the need for people to like you and approve of what you do, say, wear, think?

If you don’t get the approval, are you miserable and unhappy, analyzing what you did wrong?

I didn’t know “approval addiction” was a term until reading a book by Joyce Meyer. Now I get it! This condition lends itself to my perfectionist tendency. The idea that if I work harder and longer then people will like me. Also at the same time wondering why others are doing less and very happy!

The good thing is there is help for those of us suffering from approval addiction. The first step is the reminder of the great I AM. Look at youself every day and affirm “I am love and I am loved”. Self affirmation is a start in helping us break the habit of needing approval from others and appreciating we are enough.
